Top Highlights of 2016

2016 has been another exciting year at Nisbet Plantation and on Nevis. Follow along as we share some of this year’s highlights.

1. Expanding the Nisbet Family

In April, we welcomed home Tim & Tina Thuell. Tim (pictured below) is no stranger to Nisbet Plantation and previously served as general manager of our intimate hotel from 1990 to 1997. Tim was joined by his wife Tina Thuell, who brings along her award-winning photography expertise and passion for capturing life’s special moments. Most recently, Don Diaz joined us as our new Assistant General Manager and will lead our award-winning food & beverage team.

Delivering personal service is a hallmark of Nisbet Plantation, and our dedicated management team will ensure your stay is as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

2. Patterson’s Pub Crawl

This year Patterson began his now-famous island-wide pub crawl. Our resort’s long-serving maître d’ will guide you off the beaten path to pubs and restaurants for an authentic Nevis experience. In addition to offering insider recommendations for the island’s best rum pairings, Patterson will introduce you to the community and provide you with a true taste of local flavor.

3. World’s First “Tree-Athlon”

Participants from all around the world gather each year in Nevis to swim, run and bike for what is considered one of the most beautiful triathlon challenges. This year, fitness fanatic and expert Ross Edgley competed with a 100 lb tree strapped to his back, and the Nevis Triathlon quickly became coined the Nevis “Tree-Athlon.” Our 36-square-mile island is on track to become the first carbon neutral island on the planet, and his tree symbolized eco-friendly technology and helped increase awareness of Nevis’ green initiatives.

4. Awards & Honors

Our team strives to provide a truly remarkable vacation experience for each and every guest at Nisbet Plantation and are honored to be recognized for outstanding service, setting, accommodations and dining experience. This year, Nisbet Plantation has once again been recognized as a top Caribbean hotel by Condé Nast Traveler and U.S. News & World Report. Much to everyone’s excitement, the Nevis Tourism Association also named Nisbet the Hotel of the Year. These accolades are a testament to the dedication of our staff, and we are truly honored! As always, thank you for your continued support.

5. Arrival Experience Video

We recognize that getting to Nevis can be challenging, but flying into the St. Kitts airport offers a convenient option that begins a unique trip on land and water to Nisbet Plantation. The goal of this new video is to provide authentic insight into the arrival process and allow you to familiarize yourself with the stress-free experience as you travel to the island time forgot.

6. New Yoga Classes

You can now enjoy a refreshing combination of fitness, wellness and relaxation at morning yoga. With Nevisian roots and more than 14 years of yoga experience, Nicole (Nikki) Johnson leads our group fitness classes and will help improve your breathing technique, strength, balance and posture. All skill levels are welcome!

7. Welcoming Prince Harry Back to Nevis

Prince Harry had previously visited our unspoiled island at age 8 with Princess Diana, and we were delighted to welcome him back this year to Nevis as he represented the Queen on a two-week tour of the Caribbean. The prince is a passionate conservationist, and he particularly enjoyed visiting Lovers Beach to release baby sea turtles. Locals and guests alike eagerly gathered to await the Prince’s arrival and welcome him to Nevis.

  2. Thank you for this post. My family and I look forward to visiting Nisbet plantain again this April.

I particularly look forward to Patterson’a pub crawl around the island and I am excited for Nikki’s yoga class. I have a new yoga kit for Christmas and will be bringing it to the island with me in a few months.
