An update after Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma became a Category 5 hurricane and unfortunately headed toward the Leeward Islands on Sept. 5. Although enduring strong winds and rain, we’re happy to report that Nisbet Plantation survived the most powerful Atlantic hurricane in history. Everyone at Nisbet is safe and remains in high spirits. Although the Great House and cottages remain in ideal condition, Sea Breeze Beach Bar, the decking and beach received considerable damage.

At Nisbet Plantation, safety is our priority. Our guests, alongside myself and other staff members, spent Tuesday night in the Great House to weather Irma together as the Nisbet family.

The next day, we had torrential rain, and there was some flooding at the end of the avenue (pictured below). Now, the shining sun has returned!

Following Hurricane Irma, some of our incredible staff members began working their magic on the Nisbet grounds. We can’t thank them enough for their positive spirit and tremendous effort to put the shine back on Nisbet.

We are very grateful that Nevis did not receive the full force of the Category 5 hurricane, but our thoughts are with our neighboring islands who weren’t as lucky.

The ladies and gentlemen of Nisbet Plantation thank you for the encouragement, well wishes, prayers and support we’ve received over the past few days.
