Music fans may want to visit our sister island in June for the 16th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival. The outdoor event features artists from various genres including R&B;, Jazz, Hip-hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and Contemporary.

This year’s festival will be held June 28 – 30, 2012 at the historic Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre. Scheduled to appear are:

  • Roberta Flack, a Grammy Award winning artist and soul songstress
  • Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, the youngest son of Bob Marley and Grammy Award winner
  • Morgan Heritage, a renowned World Music/Reggae band
  • Edwin Yearwood and krosfyah, legendary soca band
  • Popcaan, a popular dance musician from Jamaica
  • Courtney Pine, saxophonist from the British Jazz scene
  • Omarion, Grammy-nominated R&B; singer

In speaking about the announcement of Roberta Flack and Damian “Jr Gong” Marley to the lineup, Minister of Tourism and International Transport Senator Ricky Skerritt stated, “Hosting such an internationally acclaimed reggae superstar and a legendary soul songstress at the same Festival embodies what this event is all about – the mix of musical genres, age ranges, and the unifying power of music that our Festival has grown to represent.”
