The true gift of the holiday season is giving.

“It’s the time of year when we stop to give thanks for our plethora of riches: families, shelter, education, medical care, jobs. Our lives may not be perfect, but those of us who travel realize that we have so much more than most people in the rest of the world. It’s no wonder that travel philanthropy is flourishing,” writes Elizabeth Hansen, Travel Editor at Ranch & Coast magazine and author of the award-winning Authentic Luxury Travel website.
In “Giving Thanks By Giving Back” in the current issue of Ranch & Coast magazine, Elizabeth shares the many ways – both big and small – that travelers can help those less fortunate throughout the world.

One example Elizabeth provides is from her visit to Nisbet Plantation and our adopted school. She and her husband brought $15 worth of school supplies, which she delivered to the school children. “The smiling faces of the children we met that day are as memorable as the swaying palm trees, beautiful sea views, and Caribbean rhythms of the island,” she says.
Elizabeth also promotes Pack for a Purpose, which Nisbet Plantation is a member of and which helps travelers who want to make a difference in the places they visit.
