|Two high school students from
Nisbet’s Project Future Chef team
Recently, 10 Nevis high school students had a chance to show off the culinary skills they acquired over the past few months of interning in a demonstration and competition event held at Nisbet Plantation’s Great House.
For the competition, the two teams of students, one coached by Nisbet’s own Chef Elsa, prepared a dinner for 25 people. The meal prepared by “Team Nisbet” was outstanding!
The students are part of Project Future Chef, a program created by the St. Kitts & Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association to inspire, motivate and expose local high school students to the opportunities available in the tourism industry.
Chef Elsa was one of two Nevis chefs paired with the students, who interned at the hotel during school breaks over Christmas, Easter and summer. In addition to the hands-on learning in Nisbet Plantation’s kitchen, the students participated in Food and Nutrition classes at their high school.
The proceeds from the demonstrations will be used to purchase equipment to improve the high school teaching kitchens. Thank you to everyone involved in this valuable program for making it a success!
