Have you visited Lover’s Beach on Nevis? This very private and very secluded beach, located on the north side of the island not far from our Nevis hotel and just west of the airport, offers picturesque views of our sister island St. Kitts. It is definitely worth a visit on your next trip.
The reason why Lover’s Beach is so quiet and unspoiled is probably because of its location off the main road. And it can be a little hard to find on your own (the Front Desk is happy to provide directions or arrange a taxi to the beach).
In this month’s ISLANDS magazine, photographer Jen Judge shares this stunning photo of Lover’s Beach on Nevis. She says that, “Of the 200-plus beaches I’ve shot, this makes my short list of favorites because of the story behind finding it.”
She had asked a driver to take her to the beach, which she pointed out on a map. After 30 minutes, the driver veers off the road “into mud bogs and overgrown shrubs” and points her to a “trail that’s too rough for his car.” The path opened to reveal “velvety sand” that melted under her feet. “It’s as if the beach isn’t used to supporting people,” she writes. “The scene stretches for about a mile – a stage with views of neighboring St. Kitts. I’m staying for a while.”
