Nisbet Plantation was the first business on the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis to sign up for Earth Hour 2008. On Saturday, March 29 we turned off all non-essential lighting and electrical appliances from 8:00 to 9:00 pm. We even asked our guests to join us in the global movement by turning out their room lights and air-conditioners when they headed to the Great House for dinner.

We placed out more candles than usual for dinner service in the Great House Dining Room, so that in the absence of electrical lighting, the dining experience was even grander than guests were usually accustomed to. In addition, our pianist, Darren Sutton, entertained in the Great House Lounge. The ambiance of the candlelit dining room, complete with the sweet sounds of the Baby Grand and exquisite cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Tony Piani and his talented culinary team, enhanced the elegance of our 1787 Great House and conjured up images of yesteryear’s splendor that remains on our gracious Plantation.

Please share with us how you participated in Earth Hour.
